Wired Artist Statement
Electricity changes everything. Our ability to harness the power of electricity to make music is the most dramatic musical development experienced in the last century. Electricity has created new instruments, from the theremin and electric guitar to laptops, turntables and digital gloves. It has greatly expanded the musical palette available to sound creators and created new options for performers. Electricity’s effect is no less dramatic for the music listener. More than any other force, electricity has made every type of music readily available to the masses, beginning with the birth of radio and the development of recording, to the instantaneous downloadable experience we enjoy today. Our concert, Wired, acknowledges the powerful influence of this elusive energy and celebrates electronic music’s irresistible challenges and exciting possibilities.
