CLOSED LOOP
featuring Zeitgeist, Pamela Z, and Todd Harper World Premiere Saturday, September 7 6:00 Grounds Open 7:00 Performance Sunday, September 8 3:00 Grounds Open 4:00 Performance Every gardener and farmer is deeply familiar with the cycle that moves from soil to sustenance and back again. Closed Loop, Pamela Z's new work for Zeitgeist, celebrates that cycle with chamber music for piano, clarinet, and a percussive arsenal including marimba, vibraphone, drums, mixing bowls, whisks, and...an immersion blender. Partnering the live musicians is an electronic score featuring samples of MN and WI chefs, farmers, and livestock. In addition to the world premiere of CLOSED LOOP, Pamela Z will perform a solo set of her renowned compositions for voice and electronics, and Zeitgeist and composer/visual artist Todd Harper will perform selections from MUSICAL LANDSCAPES, a series of watercolor scores commissioned by the festival in 2023. Farmers from the Pierce Pepin chapter of the Wisconsin Farmer's Union will be on hand to talk about their production and how they employ sustainability in their farming practice. And...we'll have food! CLOSED LOOP will feature farm fresh food supplied by Barringer Family Farms, Oxheart Farm, Rising Sun Farm and Orchard, and Warm Fields Farm prepared by local chefs. CLOSED LOOP will be performed in a pole barn. The event will happen regardless of most weather events. Performance space is accessibility to those with mobility issues and wheelchairs, but please contact us so that we can best serve you. Barringer Family Farms is a third generation family farm located in the verdant Trimbelle River valley in western Wisconsin. They grow vegetables, hay, CBD hemp products, present arts and education events, and host community celebrations.
