The Making of Americans
Dec. 12-13, 2008 at Walker Art Museum, McGuire Theater


Celebrated Boston-based experimental theater director Jay Scheib, Brooklyn-based composer Anthony Gatto, upstart New York string quartet JACK and Zeitgeist come together with singers, actors, accordions, hurdy-gurdies, church bells and more for an innovative take on opera. 


Playing it Close to Home

Celebrate the best Twin Cities’ creative talent with winners of the 14th annual Eric Stokes Song Contest plus works by Jeffrey Brooks, Libby Larsen, Carei Thomas, Janika Vandervelde and David Wolff. 


Earth, Wind and Fire
April 3-4; April 9-11, 2009


Waves, wind, stones, elements, earth come together for this fascinating musical exploration of our natural world. Featuring the world premiere of Angles of Repose by Ethan Wickman plus works by James Dillon, Frederic Rzewski, Alex Shapiro and John Luther Adams. 


Converging Traditions
May 29-30; June 4-6, 2009


Two traditions converge to forge new musical frontiers in this concert featuring world premieres of Paul Elwood’s Appalachian-infused work, The Labyrinths of Time, and Seasons, a new work by Chinese-born composer Gao Hong. Both composers will be strumming along with Zeitgeist – Elwood on banjo Gao Hong on pipa.
