Composer Abbie Betinis will present pieces from her ballet Ribcage, a work that pays homage to the skeletal framework of the body’s core structure. Originally written for the James Sewell Ballet along with soprano Carrie Henneman Shaw, Betinis has arranged music from the ballet for Zeitgeist, joined by soprano Alyssa Anderson.

Walt Whitman’s poetry contains a vivid recount of his time as a Civil War nurse. Minneapolis composer Craig Carnahan has based his large work, Ghost Camp, on these profound texts by one of America’s revered poets. Written for male chorus, narrator, piano, cello, clarinet, and percussion, The Singersare honored to present the world premiere of this moving work with Zeitgeist and narrator James Ramlet.

Celebrating 10 years of collaboration between Zeitgeist and composer Scott Miller, Zeitgeist looks back on a decade of artistic partnership with one of the Twin Cities' most adventurous composers. The event marks the release of Miller’s new album Tipping Point with music from the CD and the reprise of Shape Shifting: Shades of Transformation, a lush electro-acoustic musical landscape with sensuous poetry by Phillipe Costaglioli.

Zeitgeist, along with composer Ben Houge, is developing the Saint Paul Food Opera. In collaboration with five St. Paul chefs, Houge will create five musical works for Zeitgeist designed to partner with a course or dish prepared by each chef in the spring of 2016.
