Eric Stokes Song Contest 2022
Zeitgeist is pleased to announce the 27th Annual Eric Stokes Song Contest! The brainchild of the late composer and longtime Zeitgeist friend and supporter Eric Stokes, the Eric Stokes Song Contest (named in his honor after his death in 1999) encourages and celebrates amateur music-making to increase appreciation of the music of our time.
Zeitgeist welcomes song submissions (any type of musical composition) from amateur composers of all ages throughout the Twin Cities. There are no restrictions on genre or instrumentation. Writing a piano solo? Send it in! Working on a song for your rock band or jazz group? We want to hear it!
Entries are separated into two categories: youth (up to age 17) and adult. This year, Zeitgeist's judging panel will select several works to be arranged for Zeitgeist's instrumentation of piano, clarinet, and 2 percussion, plus voice (if applicable) and presented in an invitation-only workshop and performance held at Studio Z in spring 2022. While only selected works will be performed, all entrants will be invited to this workshop and performance. Winners will also receive $100 and a recording of their work.
To enter, fill out the online submission form and include web links to a legible score and/or high-quality recording of your song. We recommend using websites such as SoundCloud, YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, etc. to host your recording and/or PDF score.
